This EP is a set of drone pieces for cello and electronics. The title reflects this: VC is short for violoncelle and the colons symbolise a continuous drone. Track 1 is a recording of a standing fan, which is diffracted into its harmonic partials. These partials then are recreated as cello drones. Track 2 comes from a stretched and diffracted cello note. Similar to track 1, the elongated partials eventually become new cello notes. Track 3 begins as a boiling kettle, out of which cello textures evolve. This was used as an underscore for a short theatre piece in which the performers read personal texts aloud, sang Ivor Cutler’s ‘Cosmos’, and danced with lights.
